Building Your Relationship With God - Lessons Introduction
Lesson One, Who is Jesus?
Have you really ever considered the incredible claims that the Bible makes about this man, Jesus of Nazareth?
What makes Him different from Buddha or Mohammed? Is He different or is He just one of many "good" religious men throughout history?
In this lesson you will discover what the Bible claims about this man so that you will be better prepared to make an objective
decision of whether or not to be one of His followers.
Lesson Two, Evidence of Christ's Resurection
All the claims that the Bible makes about Jesus are either true or false. The credibility of the Christian faith depends upon
whether or not Jesus actually came out of the grave as he claimed he would. If Christ did not rise from the dead, the entire
Christian faith is discredited, the Bible is false, and those who follow Jesus as a religious leader are fools (1 Corinthians 15:17-19).
However, if the resurrection is true, then Jesus is Lord and all of the claims about Him in the Bible are absolutely true.
In this study, we will examine four witnesses for cross examination. It is your task to be a jury member and listen to the
testimony presented. Ultimately, you must decide for yourself if there is sufficient reason to believe the resurrection
claim based upon the evidence in existence.
Lesson Three, The Word of God
Have you ever wondered about the difference between the Old and New Testaments in your Bible? What covenant are we under
today and why? In this lesson we will examine how God gave us the Bible, what testament applies to us today, and
what attitudes are necessary in order to be pleasing to God as we read the Bible.
Lesson Four, The New Testament Church
What is the church? Is there really a difference between the church in the Bible and the churches of today? Which church
did Paul start when he went into a new city? Can we be like the church in the Bible today? If so, how? In this lesson we
will examine what the New Testament teaches concerning God's church and how to identify it and be a part of it today.
Lesson Five, Obeying The Gospel Call
Have you ever wondered what a disciple really is? Jesus calls men and women to be His disciples, yet many times we have not
really considered what He is asking or what He requires in order to answer His invitation. In this lesson, we will examine
what being a disciple of Jesus is all about and show from the Bible what Jesus expects of those who desire to follow Him.
Let's review your relationship with Christ so you will have a clear idea of where you are and what, if anything, you might
do to improve this relationship.
Lesson Six, The Kingdom of God
The kingdom of God has long been the topic of discussion among religious people. Some teach that Jesus did not set up
His kingdom the first time He was here and is coming again to set up His kingdom in Jerusalem and will reign there 1,000 years.
In this study we will examine what the Old Testament prophets said in reference to the kingdom and then we will see what
Jesus said in reference to the subject.
Lesson Seven, The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is one of the personalities of the Godhead. He is Deity. Much confusion and misunderstanding has occurred over
the past two centuries regarding the Holy Spirit, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the Indwelling of the Spirit, and the
miraculous manifestations of the Holy Spirit. In this study we will consider the Biblical teaching about the Holy Spirit
and see that there are three separate manifestations of the Spirit: the indwelling, the Baptism of the Spirit, and
miraculous manifestations. We will look specifically at the miraculous manifestations in a separate study.
Lesson Eight, Miraculous Gifts of The Spirit
From our last study, we have seen that there are three measures or manifestations of the Holy Spirit. We learned that the
indwelling of the Spirit is for all who are obedient to the Lord and become Christians. The indwelling is given at the
point of baptism (Acts 2:38; Ephesians 1:13-14; John 3:3-5) We have also seen that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit occurred
only twice (Acts 2 and Acts 10). Both occurrences introduced the gospel to a particular group of people. We have also
demonstrated that by the time that Ephesians was written, there was only one valid baptism in effect at that time (Ephesians 4:4-5).
That one baptism was water baptism in the name of Jesus in order to receive the forgiveness of sins (Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21).
In this study we will examine the miraculous manifestations of the Spirit.
